 In the first STEAM class of quarantine, "Design and engineering", we have studied basic tools, advancement of tools, several design processes, math concepts surrounding materialization of said designs, and the unexpected opportunity to have not only one but two FEs this unit. For this action project we were asked to design garden tools that benefit the elderly as much as possible. With the help of my partner CJH, we started our process with picking a tool to redesign, we chose garden shears. The next step was to have an interview with my Grammie; An elderly woman who as been gardening for years. We discussed several questions, mostly about tools and her experience with them. Coincidentally she owns a pair of shears, so obviously I asked her about them. She told me "They are hard to keep sharp and are sometimes much to short or to big."  In this new school year, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many students have had to commit to an online learning experience. For many students, myself included, it has been a struggle. In one of the first classes I am taking this year, "The Art Of Rhetoric" our first action project has been issued. We studied about the appeals ethos, logos, and pathos; We talked about how Christopher Columbus was actually a genocidal maniac in the first chapter of Howard Zinn's "A Peoples History Of America;" And we talked about how to implement the appeals by reading and watching different political speeches. In this AP we were instructed to record a video of ourselves advising a political official in how to answer a question. The question in mind is: Is it acceptable to use movements like BLM in the political setting? Drama: "A House To Keep" (Dtcab.com, 2020) As the school year ends, this will (hopfully) be the last AP that I do in quarantine.  Despite difficulty, my class and I have worked rigorously through several production scripts including A Dolls House, The Taming Of The Shrew, and A Raisin In The Sun! We had two field experience guests come and speak to us. The first was Ragina Holoway and the second was Joel Hamernick. Unfortunately I was unable to be in class for Ms Holoway but I was able to be there for the interview of Mr Hamernick. He spoke to us about the history concerning ARITS (A Raisin In The Sun), how he lives near their original house, history of red lining, and exactly what it meant for them to be moving into this white neighborhood. In my second class during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, we studied doctors vs healers, oaths, cell theory, cell anatomy, conic sections, surgery types, and we had two different online interviews. We had challenges due to purely online learning, but we tried our hardest to make it work the best we could. For this action project, we were asked to research a surgery and construct a presentation on it including an interview, small history of cells, and the potential outcomes of said surgery. The surgery of my choice is called a Vitrectomy; A removal of liquid from the eye.

In troubling times, we must persist; In this case my class and I continued to work through class online with other schools. Specifically in this class, Drama, we studied plays, historical gender inequality, Shakespeare, and finally poem writing. For the most part we read through Shakespeare's, Taming of the shrew. For this action project, we were asked to write a sonnet; A poem, consisting of 14 verses, divided in 3 Quatrains and one couplet, and following an Iambic Pentameter. In this sonnet, I am addressing Lucentio and his relationship with Bianca throughout most of the production.  Scalding Lucentio Lucentio, inspired me to write. As spring break approaches, so does final presentations for this term. With “guiding questions” (or GQs) as the theme, all students were asked to form their own guiding question relating to a class, unit, or project they have worked on this term. I chose “How can questions change the world?” as my guiding question, relating to the first unit of my class Forbidden Books. In this unit we studied Socrates and the Socratic Method, that is what my question is based on. To get into this project first, I think an introduction to the Socratic Method is in order. In the BC era, during the life of/created by the Athenian philosopher Socrates, was the Socratic Method. The basic definition is that it is a "method of inquiry and instruction" but to describe it, I would say its a way of asking questions to find your true meaning.
