Drama in "Love"
In troubling times, we must persist; In this case my class and I continued to work through class online with other schools. Specifically in this class, Drama, we studied plays, historical gender inequality, Shakespeare, and finally poem writing. For the most part we read through Shakespeare's, Taming of the shrew. For this action project, we were asked to write a sonnet; A poem, consisting of 14 verses, divided in 3 Quatrains and one couplet, and following an Iambic Pentameter. In this sonnet, I am addressing Lucentio and his relationship with Bianca throughout most of the production.
Scalding Lucentio
Lucentio, inspired me to write.
How I hate the way you Court and coerce,
Invading her mind day and through the night,
Methinks you need to be taught through a verse.
Let me compare you to a bad cherry?
You won’t countenance her choices freely
“If she had no spirit to resist” Carry!
You seem like a meacock to a freesea.
How do I hate you? Let me count Twain ways.
Hate your Cony-Catching and devotion.
Thinking of your Trickery fills my days.
My hate for you is the forward motion.
Now I must away with a gracious heart,
Remember my clad words whilst we're apart.
