Why is it Virus Disease?
In the body there are many strengths and weaknesses, it can survive from limbs being removed completely but can also be destroyed by the tiniest of cuts. Recently my class and I have been studying disease forms, locations of disease, the threat of disease, how to contract a disease and how to deal with a disease. When diagnosing a disease doctors must look at symptoms to find a location to tell them what it might be; For example, if you have asthma shortness of breath will lead straight to the lungs. When assessing the threat level of disease you might look at how much of an area is affected, how much damage is being caused and how many systems are being disrupted by it. Example: Cancer is a disease that is caused by cells that will not stop growing. For cancer it is a growth so you look directly look at the size in diameter, it can grow anywhere on the body so damage ranges from fatal to easily removable. Going into the infection of a disease, there are four main ways of getting one: Heretical, Environmental, Transmission, and Multifactorial. Through each of these comes a list of subclasses that tell more specifically how you got something. In the case of environmental, it specifies between getting hit by nature or the city, chemical radiation or smoking cigarettes. To heal from a disease there are two options, treatment or cure. A treatment will dull or nullify symptoms of a disease and a cure will get rid of it but not forever. Every time you have a cold and feel like drinking cough syrup you use a treatment that makes it easier on you but you will need to get more several hours later. The cure would just be to sleep as much as possible.
The next part of this post will cover the story of a man who contracted ebola before it was named.
C.D.H. Ebola man(2020)
Right now the Ebola virus disease (EVD) has had 67 total outbreaks, large and small, across the world but primarily focused in Africa. The data surrounding how many fatalities caused by the disease are very indefinite but the death rate is estimated to be around 70%. The symptoms include Vomiting, Diarrhea, Rash, Unexplained bruising, Internal and external bleeding and Weight loss. Before research, I imagined ebola to be a disease that, A: killed most of the infected and B: caused bleeding from every orifice. While I was not completely wrong, I was not completely right either. The story begins with the man himself working as a doctor in Africa. All according to personal testimony, a patient came in severely ill, by the time he was inside he was dead. During an autopsy of the patient, he had cut himself with a scalpel. Two weeks later he began to develop terrible symptoms. Quote: "I had a very high fever, intense aching, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, rash. My skin was peeling. I lost hearing in one ear for weeks. My hair turned white.” All of these have been described to be early on symptoms of the disease. It was only a few weeks later that he suddenly seemed to feel better. Personally, he claims God to be the reason he survived. Though the miraculous experience of Tom Cairns, the death toll is still high and there is only one FDA approved vaccine; Ervebo.
